Whiteflies are small insects that feed on the underside s of plant leaves. There are several types of Whitefly. The two most important when it comes to your plant life is (1) Rugose Spiraling Whitefly and (2) Ficus Whitefly.
Rugose Spiraling Whitefly – What You Need to Know
How can someone spot it their plants are infested with the Rugose Spiraling Whitefly? An obvious sign of an infestation is seeing the flies themselves as well as the white spiraling patterns they make on the bottoms of leaves. They are generally easy to spot due to the sticky “honeydew” the insect produces. After the whitefly sucks out the nutrition from the leaves it excretes “honeydew”. Often you will also see a black sooty mold which grows on the honeydew. This powdery mold can get on your home, car, driveway, etc… and it is rather disgusting. It makes a sticky mess.
